Valentine’s Day… A Yay or A Nay?

Of course, most people love Valentine’s Day. It brings love, happiness, and even on some occasisons, boyfriends! But what is the true meaning of Valentine’s Day?

First off, Valentine’s Day is one of our oldest and most mysterious holidays. More than 2,000 years ago, a holiday similar to Valentine’s Day was celebrated in Rome. But the name “Valentine” comes from a priest named Valentine who disobeyed a Roman law in the name of love. Claudius, the Roman emperor, had forbidden young couples to marry because he needed a fierce army and belived that single men made better soldiers. Valentine broke the law and married young couples in secret. When the emperor found out, he had Valentine killed. So St. Valentine’s Day was a day to think about love and romance.

Every year, guys give girls (or vice versa) flowers and chocolate (I love that chocolate!) and even teddy bears. (I got one this year!) So think about what you should do this Valentine’s Day. Either have you and your guy have dinner together, or get together with your girls. (that’s wht Im doing) But don’t spend it alone!
